Artist Statement

We find freedom in unusual places. Royce and Angela find that when working in collaboration, their sense of "correctness" is put in abeyance. When free to manipulate work that's already on the canvas (that neither of them as individuals "own"), a new freedom surfaces and takes them to places in painting that are dynamic and exciting. This transcends across the still life series that they paint together permeating both of their respective bodies of work.
