LISA WILKINS SCHULTE, Painting
Lisa Wilkins Schulte was born in Guyana, South America
and brings a Caribbean sense of color to her plein air
pastels. By immersing herself in the scene, Lisa captures
the ever-changing northern Michigan landscape in the rich,
vivid hues of her medium.
She is inspired by the spectacular scenery, light and
seasons of our region. Lisa is also excited by the textures
that she can create with pastels. The Wallis paper she
uses has the feel of sandpaper and “grabs”
the pigment, giving it dense, saturated color.
Lisa’s influences include Michael Chesley Johnson,
Wolf Kahn, Wassily Kandinsky and Marjorie Broodhagen.
She makes her home in Traverse City, Michigan.
