Amy LeJeune Harper
, Abstract Aerial Landscapes

Amy LeJeune Harper has been both amazed and terrified when suspended above the ground during flight. By capturing the essence of earth as it is seen from the sky and cross-sectioned, her paintings recall forms such as buildings, roads, fields and lakes. Countours of landscape offer a dynamic structure on which to build her works of art.

Through oil painting, the artist explores the relationship of man-made structures to the natural landscape, creating a dialogue between organic and geometric shapes. A dance unfolds between painting and drawing, and the interaction among colors develop boundaries that step from rigid to fluid and from shallow to deep.

Ms. Harper has a BFA in painting from The University of Michigan, and recently moved to Traverse City from Chicago, the subject of many of her paintings.
